HOME SWEET HOME

After 19 days in the hospital and well ahead of schedule, I will be discharged from Karmanos sometime this afternoon...

Thank you all for visiting me, supporting me, and praying for me. I would truly have never gotten through this without my family and friends.

God Bless you all.

Alive and well...

I might be a bit rundown and tired, but I'm still trucking through here on Day 16. I have a 5 dollar bet with the doctor that I will be out on Monday.

Monday would be 19 days which is ahead of my goal of 21.

Nothing new to report here. Got a platelet transfusion yesterday and slept most of the day. Hoping to get around and doing some laps today.

2 weeks in....

Well, I've now been here for two weeks and the first thing I thought when I woke up is...

"When the hell do I get out of here"

Still pulling for a mid-week release next week.

Got lucky today in that my nurse is also a friend of a friend. Not only is she good at her job from what I can tell but she seems real nice.

All in all, my experiences with the staff here have been extremely positive.

Yesterday, I had the first blood transfusion of my life....Wasn't thrilled about that....hoping to avoid any more but that might be impossible.

Otherwise, feeling pretty good and hangin in there as best as possible.

The Good and the Bad

The Good

-I'm able to sit up and still use a computer
-I can hold down food
-Strong possibility I can get out in a week or so if I dont get sick

The Bad

-I farted last night and it smelled so bad it almost made me puke
-The old guy down the hall told my mom that I was being lazy and that I needed to walk more
-My wife still sucks at Wii Tennis

Day11

Apologies about the lack of updates....

Transplant was thursday and was successful. Now its just a waiting game. I feel a bit sluggish and more tired than normal, but am still able to function.

Still shooting for a mid July discharge.

Have fun on the 4th and don't lose any fingers blowing up fireworks.

Day 8

Well, I've officially been here a week. So, I'm hoping around 14 more days before I get discharged....

Its weird...The longest vacation I've ever taken is two weeks. So essentially, this is the longest time I've gone without being home.

Also, and this has nothing to do with anything, I accidentally hit one of the nurses in the butt yesterday....

I didnt realize how close she was and I stuck my arm out for my blood pressure....Instead of air, I got her derriere...

And then she smiled...which made the whole thing uncomfortable

Awful

Day 7

Well, this is the last day of chemo.

And I'm hoping that means the lasy day of chemo for my entire life....

After today, Wednesday is an off-day so I will probably just spend it hitting on the nurses and PA's.

Sorry Meret.

Otherwise, everything is going well. Can't complain....

Day #6

The last day of this 4 day stretch of intense chemo. Tomorrow is just a 30 minute infusion that shouldn't be as bad.

Knock on wood, I have not thrown up once which is a testament to the aggressive anti-nausea medication they have planned for me.

Stem cells will go back in on July 2nd.

A big thanks to all those who have sent emails, called and or stopped by....much appreciated

Day #5

Routine is the same....get woken up at 5, vitals and blood....then chemo starts at 6....

I'm not sure who came up with that system but they need to be shot..

The days are starting to blend together...had to look at the calendar today to make sure it was actually Sunday...

The doctors are about to round....its real fun...I love when people poke and prod me like I'm the Pillsbury Doughboy

day #3

probably the first semi-hard day I've had...pretty tired until the afternoon so I didnt get out of my bed....

Chemo is in the morning and at night for the next 4 days so thats not something Im looking forward to....

As I sit here, my dad has fallen asleep next to me...he's a trooper I tell ya

cheers

Day #2

4:45 am

"Good morning Mr. Isaac"....

"Huh"?

"We are here to take your vitals and get some blood"

"At 4:45am"

"Yea, we normally come earlier"

Isn't there something inherently wrong with waking up sick people that early in the morning?

Weird

Glad I didn't have morning wood

Admitted

Today is the first day of admission. The goal is to be out around July 15th....approximately 21 days.

The room is spacious although I could use a bigger tv. Feel free to visit anytime. But if you have the swine flu, keep your ass at home.

Ok fine, I'll let you come but you have to bring a pizza....preferably large...and some wings....hot ones

And a cherry coke...I love cherry cokes

Anyways, drop me a line....email, comments, text....whatever

Fortunately, the wi-fi is good and my phone has a good signal.

Cheers

Isaac
